The Management Committee is responsible for managing the affairs of the Society in the same way as a board of directors is responsible for managing the affairs of a limited company. The Management Committee will:
• Organise and supervise the purchase of the pub and any refurbishment works; • Monitor and manage the Society’s financial affairs for the benefit of the community; • Hold regular meetings, with published agenda and minutes; • Appoint a tenant to operate the pub and assist the tenant with the appointment of other staff; • Ensure that the Society complies with all applicable regulations.
The Management Committee will provide all members with an Annual Report which will set out the key financial statements together with a Report of the society’s activities during the previous financial year, and any plans for the following year. These will be reviewed at an Annual Members’ Meeting for the members to vote on key decisions. Any big changes to the direction of the company will require an Extraordinary Members’ Meeting.
