Update on The Bell

We would like to provide an update on the project to restore and reopen The Bell.

John Rogers of The Globe has decided that he will not be proceeding with the project. This decision follows a review of the financial commitment required and the wider economic conditions.

We would like to thank John for the time and effort he has invested in developing proposals for the building and for his engagement with the project.

While this is clearly disappointing, The Bell Iden Community Limited remains fully committed to securing a sustainable future for the building as a working village pub.

We have previously been approached by other potential operators and will now be revisiting those conversations as we consider the next steps.

We continue to see this as a positive opportunity to find the right long-term solution for bringing The Bell back into use.

In the meantime, the Board has been actively managing and maintaining the building. This has included:

• regular visits to check on the property
• carrying out an electrical safety check and acting on the report to make the wiring safe
• obtaining a fire safety certificate
• improving security through replacement locks and installation of a burglar alarm
• fitting a new rear door
• maintaining the external areas, including mowing the lawns
