Who We Are

Following a career in the Insurance Industry, Martin (now retired) moved to Iden with his wife Debbie, 4 years ago. In that relatively short space of time Martin witnessed how much the pub meant to the community. He wants to play a part in successfully re-opening The Bell to be the heart and soul of the community.

Paul moved to Iden with his family in 2022. Paul spent 30 years working as a project manager and technology executive for companies such as AOL, Sky and Flutter. Paul is now semi-retired and is looking forward to spending time in The Bell when it re-opens.

Born in Winchelsea, Chris left Rye Grammar School in 1953 for a job with the National Provincial Bank in London. Chris became Chief Accountant of Air Products Ltd in Belgium before returning to work in the UK for Trusthouse Forte and the Milk Marketing Board. Since retiring Chris has carried our voluntary work as a pension fund trustee and with a number of community organisations.

Debbie spent her career in television and cinema before retiring from her role as CEO of a cinema advertising company to move to Iden in 2020. Debbie continues to be a member of BAFTA, enjoying her passion for film, and now has a new career running a business growing and selling flowers.

Hugh has lived in Iden since 2005 and has been involved in many local initiatives from the Iden fete to being one of the directors of the Community Interest Company that built The Kino, Rye. Along the way he has also run a pop-up restaurant and started The Rye Ukulele Experiment. Hugh trained as an actor, mainly in spoken word, producing and narrating audiobooks and educational content, as well as working in a local winery.

Ralph moved to Iden 38 years ago and has served in a number of community roles including village fete treasurer, village hall treasurer and he is a Trustee of the Rye Heritage Centre. Formerly a business consultant in the public and private sector, Ralph is now retired.
